The overall taste is good, I like it

📍 650 Yates St, Victoria, BC V8W 1L3 This Korean restaurant is in Victoria Downtown, right across from the Dollarama on Douglas. The place is pretty spacious with roomy seats, but the vibe? Super dimly lit—like, intentionally dark. Most servers are Korean girls, and they’re all so nice! They’re open late till 12 AM too, which is handy. The food’s solid overall—I really like it here. ✅ Corn Cheese 💰13 My must-order every time—hot plate creamy cheese corn! The ingredients are simple: just corn, cheese, and a sprinkle of green onion on top. The portion isn’t huge, just a thin layer of cheesy corn, but it’s so good. They use sweet, crisp fruit corn, and the cheese has mayo mixed in, which makes it extra sweet and creamy. You gotta stir it up right when it arrives, though—otherwise the scorching hot plate will burn the bottom! 🧀🌽 ✅ Skewers Combo 💰24 A platter of skewers with three different kinds—all pretty good! They’re all brushed with sweet chili sauce, so the seasoning’s the same. Each skewer has three pieces, and when we three shared, we just pulled all the bits off and passed around the sticks—silly but fun! 😆 From left to right: First two skewers: rice cakes with sausage. The rice cakes are just the right texture—chewy but not hard—and the sausage isn’t all starch—there’s actual meat, and it’s juicy! Next two: Korean sweet chili fried chicken. The batter’s a bit thick, but it’s fried super well—crunchy through and through. Last two: fried shrimp cakes. These are just okay. The batter’s a bit powdery, and the shrimp doesn’t taste fresh—no chew, just soft. They’re only saved by the sweet chili sauce on top. ❌ Ojingeo-Bokkeum 💰19 Spicy stir-fried squid with veggies—total letdown. There’s barely any squid, and what’s there is tough and chewy, not even seasoned. The flavor’s just soybean paste plus chili sauce—boring spice, no depth, and it leaves a weird stinging feeling on your tongue. The veggies are just shredded cabbage, probably tossed on after the squid was done, so they’re not too spicy—crisp and fresh, at least. 🥬 ✅ Army Soup 💰33 Delicious budae jjigae! It’s not too salty, and it’s packed with stuff—all the classic army soup bits: cabbage, tofu, hot dogs, spam, fish cakes, instant noodles, rice cakes… you name it. It’s a little different every time, probably depending on what the kitchen has in stock. Let it simmer on the small stove for a bit after it’s served—everything soaks up the flavor, and even if you cook it longer, it doesn’t get messy or burn. Perfect! 🥘 #Canada #CanadaFood #VancouverIsland #Victoria #Foodie #LifeSnippets #FoodTour #MyDailyLife
