The Reason Why This Shave Ice Shop Gets Mixed Reviews❗️❗️❗️
🍧 Island Vintage Shave Ice This iconic shave ice spot is a must-try in Hawaii, but reviews are wildly mixed. After eating SIX bowls in eight days, I finally figured out why—some locations are absolutely terrible! Like, "why did I even buy this?" level bad. 😱 ❗️ You MUST go to the one on Waikiki's main street! It's right across from Island Vintage Coffee (see pic 6). This location has a male staff member, self-ordering kiosks, and—most importantly—perfectly balanced flavors every time! The ice is fluffy but not too soft (so it doesn’t melt instantly), and the syrup soaks in just right. 5/5 bowls were hits here! 🎯 ⚠️ AVOID the one at Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort (pic 7) at all costs!! Our first try there was a disaster—stale mochi, overpoweringly sweet syrup, and just... no. We threw ours away. 🗑️🚫 🍧 Hawaiian Rainbow Shave Ice A triple-flavor combo: Coconut 🥥, Strawberry 🍓, and Mango 🥭. The coconut was my FAVE! Topped with mochi + strawberry bits, plus coconut soft serve inside. Perfect for first-timers! 🌈 🍧 Make Your Own (Mango + Tropical) We picked mango + passionfruit—topped with mochi, popping boba, and passionfruit pulp. The center is passionfruit soft serve. A bit tangy, but refreshing in the heat! ☀️ 🍧 Coconut Island Shave Ice Loved the coconut in the Rainbow? This is ALL coconut—with mango bits, mochi, popping boba, and coconut soft serve. OBSESSED. The boba + coconut combo is chef’s kiss. 🤤 🍧 Pink Island (Lychee) Heard this is super sweet (Americans love it), so we skipped it. Not my vibe! 🕰️ Hours: 10 AM - 10 PM #Hawaii #ShaveIce #Dessert #Foodie #HawaiiTravel #Oahu #TreatYourself
