The restaurant I kept craving after leaving Canberra for Sydney

Traveling in Canberra, a so-called "food desert," the biggest question for a foodie like me was where to eat. Tasting such delicious dinner almost made me cry with excitement. The address is at the end. Good news for those who love Western food— this place serves creative fusion dishes. Not only are the flavors amazing, but every corner is Instagram-worthy. Though it’s not fine dining, its taste outshines many fine dining spots. (Maybe Canberra’s reputation lowered my expectations?) Even without bias, it’s genuinely delicious— the kind of restaurant I’d revisit every time I’m in Canberra. Tiger prawn toast (Can’t remember the exact name—just show the picture to the staff!) The outer bread is fried to a super crispy texture, while the inside is soft and airy. The bouncy shrimp pairs perfectly with it. Oddly enough, the tiger prawns tasted a bit like roast duck to me— soooo good 😋 Ordered per piece, so get as many as there are people. ⚠️ Max two per person; more would be too rich. Wood grilled Wagyu Cooked to perfection—tender meat oozing with juices. You can almost taste it just by looking at the picture. I’m already craving it again. And it’s only 58 AUD for such a large portion! With this quality and cooking skill, it’s a must-order main every time I go ❗️ Wood fried Broccoli Personally, I’m obsessed with chargrilled flavor + broccoli. The sauce mixes sesame, creaminess, and a hint of lemon— refreshing, yet complementing the broccoli’s smokiness. Crunchy nuts on top add extra texture. I loved it (but friends who hate smoky flavors might disagree). Wilma‘s combination truffle & egg fried rice Each grain is distinct and chewy— rarely do you find rice this fragrant and textured in Australia. The fried rice is full of flavor, perfectly seasoned—salty, savory, fresh, with a hint of clay pot rice sweetness. The truffle is just right—not overpowering, but its aroma stands out. Most importantly, the moisture and oil are balanced— no greasiness at all. Highly recommended ❗️ A small egg tart the manager gave us when we paid Freshly baked, so hot it burned my hands. Incredible—bursting with juice in every bite. The crust is ultra-crispy, crumbling at the touch—just pop it in your mouth. Made me want to go back for a full dessert round. 🍴 Wilma 📍 1 Genge St, Canberra ACT 2601 #AustralianLife #StudyInAustralia #Canberra #AustralianFood #CanberraFood #AustralianInternationalStudents #StudentFoodHunt #RestaurantRecommendations #SydneyLife
