The Ultimate St. Pete Guide
When people think of the "Sunshine State," Florida comes to mind. But "The Sunshine City"? That’s St. Petersburg, Florida! Many wonder — isn’t that a historic Russian city? Actually, Florida's St. Pete does have ties to Russia: one of its founders was a Russian immigrant who named it after his hometown ❤️🇷🇺. Today, we’re not talking Tampa or Clearwater’s white sands — we’re diving into the cultural and artistic heart of central Florida: St. Pete! 🏛️ The Dalí Museum A true St. Pete landmark! My family’s first visit to St. Pete was just to see this museum 🖼️✨. The building itself is a work of art, and inside you’ll find iconic works by Salvador Dalí. Our favorite: "The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus" We also loved "The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory" — a dreamy sequel to MoMA’s famous "The Persistence of Memory." During our visit, there was even a traveling Picasso exhibition! 🎨 Cool tech tip: Download the Dalí Museum app — point your phone at certain paintings for AR animations! 🔮 Chihuly Collection - Morean Arts Center Like the Chihuly Garden in Seattle’s Space Needle, but more intimate 🏺💎. Fewer pieces, but you can watch live glassblowing demonstrations — mesmerizing to see art being made right before your eyes! 🔥👨🎨 🐎 The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art Opened in 2018, founded by the chairman of Raymond James — a major financial firm that also sponsors Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ stadium I wasn’t excited at first, but my partner insisted… and I’m so glad! We discovered stunning works like those by Earl Biss — not widely known, but absolutely breathtaking (see Pic 14). A true hidden gem! 💎🤠 🎨 Museum of Fine Arts We ran out of time after The James Museum, but it’s highly recommended if you can fit it in! 🌊 St. Pete Pier After all that art, unwind here with sea breezes and gorgeous waterfront views . Perfect for a stroll or sunset watching! 🌅 🏨 The Vinoy A charming pink hotel near the pier, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection 🏩💖. We usually day-trip, so haven’t stayed — but it’s iconic! Another famous pink hotel nearby is The Don CeSar 🏖️. 🐟 Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish Featured on Guy Fieri’s show, we had to try it! Honestly? It was just okay — decent, but not life-changing #US #Florida #Saint Petersburg
