New York City is many things, but, apparently, the best place to live in the Northeast isn’t one of them. The platform recently scoured the Northeast to determine the top 25 best places to live, and while NYC didn’t make the cut, one of our neighbors did. Now, we’d usually trust a ranking like this–Livability has been perfecting their craft for more than 30 years, after all. Still, we can’t help but remain loyal to our city (bias fully acknowledged) and think NYC deserved at least an honorable mention. Actually, we digress...anything that keeps our rent prices from climbing even higher. From the iconic fisheries of Maine and farmlands of Pennsylvania to our very own City That Never Sleeps, the Northeast boasts a shockingly impressive amount of diversity in food, culture, and landscape. But standing apart from them all is Clifton, New Jersey. Situated one hour from NYC, this Passaic County city was recognized by Livability as the best place to live in the Northeast, and we can’t help but notice the fact that it’s a suburb of New York City –our influence... Well, technically, it’s a “bedroom suburb” of NYC, meaning it’s a residential area where most people live but commute to a larger city for work, shopping, and entertainment–essentially just using the home base city for sleeping and relaxing. But Clifton, NJ is certainly special in its own way. The city of nearly 90,000 residents has its own noteworthy amenities, including 39 parks with all kinds of courts, fields, and playgrounds–even bocce ball and shuffleboard courts. New Jersey *is* “The Garden State,” after all. And for families looking to put down roots, Clifton is a great place to do so. The city has secured a spot as one of the best in the Northeast for its educational offerings –home to several top-notch schools, both public and private–and it’s no stranger to hosting annual events and festivals for the whole fam. And the city does come with a bit of celebrity–it served as a filming location for the iconic crime drama television series *The Sopranos. * Bada bing!
