It is a pleasure to see a homestead from a few centuries ago that is as nicely preserved as this one. The Hamilton House (the Hamilton and Van Wagoner homestead) dates all the way back to the beginnings of what became Acquackanonk Township (which encompassed the entirety of the present day Clifton and Passaic, as well as part of what are now Little Falls and Woodland Park). The several structures within the complex are in mostly solid condition, a tribute to the construction mores of the era -- and preservation efforts by the City of Clifton and the County of Passaic.
