This Hacienda Heights Hunan Spot is Like the "North American Version
Every time I go to Changsha, I crave "Ben Luo Bo" β and when I heard a new Hunan spot called "Ben Chili" opened in Hacienda Heights, I knew it had to be legit just from the online reviews and menu. Tried it today β and it was even better than expected! We ordered their signature dishes: πΆοΈ Stir-Fried Beef with Chili The beef and celery are finely chopped β perfect for scooping over rice, so fragrant! πΈ Bandit-Style Chopped Chili Frog Tender frog meat β the spicy chopped chili and aromatic perilla blend perfectly, rich and fiery. π₯ Dried Radish with Cured Pork The cured pork quality is insane β even my friends back in China said it looks authentic! As a Sichuan native, I have to admit Hunan cured pork is just next level. The dried radish soaks up the porkβs oiliness β crispy, glossy, and so flavorful. π₯ Spicy Double Crunch This rivals even Rong He Sichuan! Instead of sliced tripe, they cut it into strips β more flavorful and better texture. The pork kidney is cleaned perfectly, no unpleasant taste. No more trips to Alhambra just for this dish π₯Ή Wanted to try the stir-fried rice skin noodles, but they were out of stock π Left my number so they can notify me when itβs back β that dish holds such strong Hunan memories for me. We had leftovers, and they even packed us two extra boxes of rice β the owner said their dishes are super rice-friendly, so we should take more home. π 1635 S Azusa Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745 #LALife #LAFoodFinds #HunanCuisine #LAEats #HaciendaHeightsFood #RowlandHeightsEats π₯’
