This Is Toronto’s Greatest Oxtail Rice… (The People’s Meal! 👑

📍Tropical Joe’s — I’ve been recommending this Jamaican food spot for years! Housed in a food court, it’s known for huge portions, low prices, and most importantly… incredible flavor. Back when I was a broke student, the Tropical Joe’s at Gerrard Square was my happy place 🥹 Tender, generous meat — one order could last two meals, all for around $10. Their oxtail is legendary. Today, I was suddenly craving oxtail rice and looked up how far Gerrard Square was… To my surprise, a brand-new📍Tropical Joe’s had opened just 350m from my workplace café! Is this destiny?! 563 Sherbourne St, Toronto (That’s even closer to DT!) The menu is still the same, though prices have gone up a few dollars. I ordered a large oxtail with rice & beans — $22 after tax 💰 But it’s seriously heavy — enough to fill two people! So much tender oxtail meat 🥹 and the stewed potatoes are perfectly soft but not mushy. Recommend getting the Regular size — totally sufficient and only $17 after tax! Still a steal!! You can also pair it with poutine, roti… I’ve tried them all — order with confidence! Why call it “great”? Because it truly blesses so many hardworking people 🙏 #TorontoFood #Canada
