This LA Korean Spot Totally Outshines Sunnongdan! 🌶️🥩
This place is so good, once you try it, there’s no going back! If it’s your first time in LA, sure — go to Sunnongdan to check off the classic spot. But if you’ve already been here — this place blows it out of the water! Known for soy marinated raw crab, but my absolute favorite is their braised beef short ribs — seriously 100x better than Sunnongdan’s! — ✨ Must-Order Picks ✨ 🥩 Gaibi Jjim (Braised Beef Short Ribs) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a must-order! Beef ribs braised till tender — meat falls off the bone, every bite packed with rich beef flavor. The sauce is the soul — choose spicy or non-spicy; I highly recommend spicy (not too hot) — sweet-spicy + garlicky, perfectly balanced. Save it to mix with rice at the end — heavenly! Non-spicy is sweeter — still good, but spicy has more depth. 🦀 Soy Marinated Raw Crab ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Apparently the signature! I’ve never tried it (always too busy with the beef lol), but friends rave about its freshness — sweet crab roe, no fishy taste. Raw crab lovers — don’t miss this! 🫓 Seafood Tofu Pancake ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Made with tofu — not as doughy as regular pancakes, small and easy to eat. Works as a main if you skip rice — even better dipped in the beef rib sauce! 🐙 Spicy Octopus ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good, similar to typical Korean stir-fried octopus — sauce-heavy, might be too salty for mild palates. Not as standout as the others. 🍲 Kimchi Stew ⭐️ Ordered by a friend — personally not into sour soups. This one’s mostly kimchi, not much else — just okay. Skip unless you’re a kimchi stew fanatic. — ✨ Banchan Game Strong! Gotta mention — their banchan selection is huge! They bring out a whole table of small plates covering half the table — so appetizing! And they’re not just numerous — they’re tasty, and refillable. Big plus. 🔥 Three visits in — every time leaves me wanting more. Seriously love this spot — highly recommend trying it! 📍 Soban #Foodie #LAKoreanFood #KtownLA #LAEats #LASunnongdan #LASoban #StudentEats
