Three Days in Maine | Small Towns Along the Route from Boston
In early August, we rented a car in Boston, headed to Acadia National Park, and then drove back—completing a mini Maine loop. Let’s document all the lovely spots we visited along the way 💕 【Day 1. Small Towns from South to North Along the Maine Coast】 Freeport 🥾: It’s a paradise for outdoor gear—you can find everything from L.L.Bean, Patagonia to Fjällräven. So many cars from Massachusetts (MA) and New Hampshire (NH) come here specifically for shopping 🛍️! I bought a Patagonia Terravia 22L backpack, which was on sale for only $80—such a great deal! Rockland 🪽: Don’t miss the Project Puffin Visitor Center ⭐️! Puffins once nested on the coastal cliffs or islands of the Gulf of Maine, but their population was once endangered. This center documents how ornithologists used artificial nests and translocated chicks from Iceland to gradually restore the puffin ecosystem. The town also offers dedicated puffin-watching boats! For afternoon tea, we visited Bixby, a local chocolate factory in Rockland. You can watch the entire chocolate-making process! After enjoying our chocolates 🍫, the owner recommended we check out Breakwater Lighthouse. It was a foggy day, and only seagulls were perched there quietly, looking a bit somber. We had dinner at Long Grain, a Thai restaurant in the town of Camden. Their spicy and sour mussels were incredibly fresh—Maine’s seafood ingredients are far better in quality than those in Southern California 🥹! #Maine #AroundBoston #AcadiaNationalPark
