🗼🗼 Tokyo, Japan: A Super Detailed 6-Day, 5-Night Travel Guide
It's been nearly 2 months since I returned from Japan, and I've carefully compiled our 6-day, 5-night itinerary in Tokyo. ✈️ ⭐️ Preparations Before Going to Japan Visa: 🍑 Simplified single entry, 198r per person Yen: Many places in Tokyo offer exchange rate discounts for WX payments. I exchanged 90,000 yen and had 20,000 left over. SIM Card: 🍑 A 7-day 10GB card is enough, and there's public wifi in many places. Apps to Download: NaviTime (for transit), Google Maps, Papago (translation app), and Tabelog (for restaurant reviews). ⭐️ Transportation Flight: We traveled from 7.14-7.20, on a red-eye flight. Summer is peak season and a bit more expensive than usual. Try to book 2 months in advance. We bought tickets from 🍑 Air for 2,200 round trip, which wasn't too expensive. If you plan to buy a lot in Japan, make sure to get checked luggage on your return flight; they check very strictly. 😅 Suica Card: It's recommended to preload 4,000 yen. In Tokyo, consider buying a JR Pass for 760 yen per day, which I think is better than the 72-hour subway ticket. Since we also planned to visit Izu, Kamakura, and Mount Fuji, buying consecutive 72-hour tickets might be a bit wasteful. Plus, subway tickets are only for Toei lines, and transferring can be quite troublesome. With a JR Pass, you can cover almost everything by taking the Yamanote line. ⭐️ Accommodation We stayed in Akihabara, which I felt was a great value. The average cost per person for 5 nights was 1,300, with Lawson and 711 nearby. 🚶♀️ It's a ten-minute walk to the otaku paradise. 💖 We had a twin room, and the hotel on the first floor offered free luggage storage and umbrella rentals. ⭐️ Attractions Since we only had 6 days and also visited Kamakura and Izu, our schedule was packed, focusing on efficiency. 🙉 1️⃣ Senso-ji Temple - Tokyo Skytree - Akihabara - Ginza Akihabara is a paradise for anime fans. 😍 Those who want to buy doujinshi should explore this area thoroughly; affordable doujinshi are usually displayed in the afternoon/evening and the stalls close at 8:00 PM. Senso-ji Temple and Ginza are also great for shopping. Japan is truly clean, and the service is excellent, no wonder it's popular among tourists. 2️⃣ Ooshima - Enoshima Coast - Shibuya The matcha color of Ooshima is truly unique and photogenic! It's recommended to rent a car 🚘 because traveling from Tokyo would take about 6 hours round trip, which is quite time-consuming. The night view from Shibuya Sky is also stunning. 3️⃣ Odaiba - Shimbashi - Imperial Palace - Ginza - Kabukicho 4️⃣ Kamakura Station - Gokukurakuji - Kamakura High School Station - Enoshima - Yubihama Fireworks Festival 🎆 5️⃣ Ikebukuro - Shinjuku - Sugamo - Tokyo Tower 🗼 Kiddyland in Harajuku didn't have as many Ghibli items as I expected, and the area was quite small, which was a bit disappointing 😭. Chiikawalando in Ikebukuro/Skytree is good. 6️⃣ On our last day, we focused mainly on shopping. Since the visibility of Mount Fuji was low during these days, we didn't go. You can plan a day trip to Mount Fuji if you wish. Visibility forecasts for Mount Fuji can be checked online 🔍. ⭐️ Dining 🍜 Use Tabelog to find restaurants; it's an app used by locals and has strict ratings. Anything above 3.4 is usually very tasty, and above 4 is basically Michelin quality. Due to space limitations, I'll release a special episode dedicated to Tokyo's cuisine later. 🥳 #JapanTravel #TokyoTravel #Tokyo #Kamakura #Akihabara
