🍰 Toronto’s Best-Kept Secret Cake Shop Is in the North!
A European-style bakery passed down through three generations since the 1980s… and I only just discovered it! How did I not know about this amazing place all these years? A huge shoutout to my baking class buddy for the recommendation! 🙌 (Quick story: Last week she told me she’d tried an incredible meringue cake at a grocery store — so good she asked where it came from. She originally recommended their raspberry meringue cake, but I was thrilled to find they also make those famous hyper-realistic fruit cakes — you know, the ones blowing up in France and the US! 🍐🍑) The shop is unassuming from the outside, but inside it’s clean, spacious, and modern. You can even see the bakers working in the open kitchen! One side displays gorgeous cakes, the other homemade gelato. ❤️ The mini cakes in the fridge are almost too cute to eat — unbelievably detailed and realistic. The owner kindly walked me through all the flavors. I finally picked: 🌟 Guava (his recommendation) – not too sweet, with real guava flavor! 🌟 Pina Colada 🥥 – an adorable coconut-shaped cake with coconut mousse, pineapple, banana, and ginger 🌟 Lavender – delicate lavender cake with peach compote They also have incredibly lifelike pear, pistachio, orange, pomegranate, cherry, peach, fig, and hazelnut mousse cakes! For larger cakes, don’t miss the Raspberry Meringue Cake — as Toronto’s first meringue cake specialist, the texture is pure magic. It literally melts in your mouth. They also make homemade gelato (though I’d say it’s closer to granita — super smooth and fruity). After sampling, my favorites were guava and HAZELNUT — oh my, the hazelnut is so rich and aromatic 🏆 Not too sweet — officially the best hazelnut ice I’ve had this year! Highly recommend! No dessert lover should miss this place. 📍 Sweet-o-one Unit #5, 50 Doncaster Ave, Thornhill #TorontoDesserts #HiddenGem #CakeLover #EuropeanBakery #SweetTooth
