Touched by the Owner of a Korean Restaurant in LA
Every time I eat at this Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) spot, it feels like home. 🏡 The owner is a sweet Korean auntie—though her English is limited, she’s always so warm and kind to us. Whenever she notices we’ve finished a side dish, she quietly brings us a fresh bowl, treating us like her own kids. 🥬❤️ And when we get takeout, she sneaks extra portions of our favorite banchan into our bags. The food is already so affordable that even leaving a tip feels almost embarrassing—she just gives so much. More than once, I’ve forgotten my laptop or bag after paying and driving off… and she’s actually run outside to wave me down and return them. 🏃♀️💻 One Thanksgiving, after we finished dinner, she quietly called us over, led us to the cafe next door, and bought each of us a coffee and a pastry 🥐☕. She said, “This is on me.” My heart just melted—living abroad, you build up walls around strangers, but in that moment, all my guards came down. 🥲💖 Since then, I’ve been coming almost every week—with friends, or alone. I’ve eaten here dozens of times. It’s more affordable than many famous spots, yet incredibly delicious, with huge portions of tender beef 🥩. But not many people seem to know about it. Lately, with students away, the place has felt emptier… and I really don’t want such a heartfelt restaurant to be overlooked. So here’s my sincere recommendation: If you’re in LA’s Koreatown, please visit SYTK Seolleongtang. It’s more than a meal—it’s comfort, care, and a taste of kindness. 💛 #KoreanFood #StudyAbroadEats #ComfortFood #HiddenGemLA #EatLocal #FoodWithHeart 🍲
