Travel|4-Day Itinerary Guide for Austin & San Antonio, Texas

As the weather cools down, heading south for a weekend getaway is a perfect choice. Let me recommend the charming and slightly off-the-beaten-path city of San Antonio. Since flights from New York to San Antonio are limited, we chose to fly into Austin and spend a night there first. Austin may not have tons of attractions, but it’s still worth a day of relaxed exploration. 🌆 🌟 Texas State Capitol Home to the governor’s office, this historic building offers free tours where you can learn about Texas history and politics. 🏛️📜 🌟 Congress Avenue Bridge A famous photo spot! The light and shadows through the bridge arches add a special touch to pictures, especially during sunrise or sunset. 🦇 Also, keep an eye out for bats—they live underneath the bridge! 🌟 The Oasis on Lake Travis This is actually a restaurant with stunning architecture, though the food is said to be just okay. Overlooking the lake, it’s a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the sunset views. 🌅🍹 San Antonio Area Attractions 🌟 River Walk Probably the most famous spot in San Antonio—perfect for a morning or evening stroll. It’s a vibrant district built along the San Antonio River, lined with shops and restaurants. You can even take a boat tour for a little taste of Venice! 🚤🌿 🌟 Market Square A historic neighborhood full of character, decorated with colorful papel picado banners. The streets are dotted with Mexican-style craft shops—great for photos, especially in the evening. 🇲🇽📸 🌟 The Alamo A UNESCO World Heritage site that tells the story of the Battle of the Alamo and Texas history. A must-visit for history lovers! ⚔️🏛️ 🌟 Mission San Jose Part of a series of Spanish colonial missions, this site features a beautiful church and exhibits showcasing daily life from centuries ago. The weathered stone walls add a deep sense of history. 🕍🌵 🌟 San Fernando Cathedral The oldest cathedral in Texas, known for its stunning nighttime light show that narrates the state’s history. Check the schedule in advance if you plan to visit! 💒✨ 🌟 Natural Bridge Caverns About a 30-minute drive from downtown, this underground cave system is spectacular, with stunning stalactites and rock formations illuminated by lights. Be sure to book ahead! 🕳️💡 🌟 Texas Ski Ranch As wakeboarding enthusiasts, we couldn’t resist trying this cable-pulled wakeboarding spot—different from the boat-towed version we tried in New York! Getting started was tricky though. 😅🏄♂️ #HiddenTravelGems #USTravel #USATourism #Texas #SanAntonio
