A Fun and Unique Place to Visit! The market square is comprised of several buildings including several restaurants and numerous little shops selling just about any south of the border related item. We had no problem finding parking as there are several lots on the square and street parking. Cart vendors are selling fresh made churros, fruit bars, fruit drinks, etc. A bakery with an extensive display case offers many hard to resist items. A variety of tasty snacks and food is available inside the buildings. We were amazed at how many families were buying the fresh spun cotton candy. We really enjoyed browsing through the small shops that sit side by side with gorgeous hand painted pottery, dishes, yard art and more. Several leather shops offer very reasonably priced leather goods of exceptional quality. What is most impressive is how many items these vendors fit into their shops. Every inch of wall and ceiling space is covered with items for sale. Typically, one narrow walkway winds through the store - no room for strollers. We did see and hear some strolling mariachis who sang songs by request for anyone who was willing to put a few bucks in their hand. Their website has details on the shops, eateries and entertainment schedule. We think it's a must visit place if it's your first time in...
Read moreI visited the Historic Market Square in San Antonio recently, and my experience was a bit different from what I expected. I went in the early afternoon, and the square wasn’t as lively as I had imagined, it felt pretty quiet, and there weren’t many visitors around at the time. That said, the market itself is still worth seeing. The shops are colorful and full of unique handcrafted items, from jewelry and pottery to clothing and traditional Mexican art. It’s clear that a lot of effort goes into keeping the space authentic and culturally rich.
While I didn’t get to experience much live entertainment during my visit, I’ve heard that the square can be very lively in the evenings and during special events, with mariachi bands, folkloric dancers, and local performances adding a lot of energy. The food options are also a highlight, there are several restaurants and stalls offering traditional Mexican cuisine. I wasn’t there during a mealtime rush, but the atmosphere at places like Mi Tierra Café y Panadería still looked festive and inviting.
Even though it was quiet when I visited, the Historic Market Square is a charming destination if you want to explore local culture, pick up souvenirs, or enjoy some Mexican food. I’d recommend visiting later in the day or during an event for the...
Read moreHappy Fiesta San Anto!! It was a gorgeous day and beautiful San Antonio Texas. Every year during fiesta we come to market square for the great music and delicious food. We got down on them turkey legs chicken on a stick three-part tacos & cheeseburgers. Let's not forget enjoying a nice cold micheladas while we walk down historic market square. Usually a fun and safe atmosphere we recently heard on the news that a man was shot the day before. Apparently there's videos on Tik-Tok. Either way we were not afraid to come and celebrate fiesta. Beautiful historic buildings lineup along with beautiful decorations along the pathway. Many friendly faces and I get atmosphere during the day we always leave before night cuz that's when usually well you know... Had a great time and can't wait to visit again...There are many shops to choose from who sell anything from jewelry to homemade arts and crafts. There was one man in particular who had a shop inside who was very rude and that soon as I get that Booth name I will put it back here in this review. He was upset because I was recording his Booth inside the The market square and said he didn't need help promoting his business so I thought that was very rude other than that it was a...
