Travel diary: From kandy to Colombo
Spa Ceylon It is a popular skincare chain in Sri Lanka, focusing on natural and additive-free products. In some larger stores, you can also enjoy facial and body spa treatments. The branch in Galle is recommended for its large store size and more comprehensive product range compared to Colombo, and it's easier to book spa appointments (we were able to get a treatment directly without an appointment, whereas in Colombo, it's said that you need to book in advance). 🚆The Sea Train: We chose the most essential section of the journey, Mount Lavinia—Kollupitiya/Colombo. Train tickets can only be purchased on site (it seems to be 20 rupees, but our driver Samith paid for the tickets so I'm not sure about the exact amount). The train is more dilapidated than the tea garden train. There are no doors on the train, and you can sit anywhere you like. It's recommended to sit on the left side. 🦀Ministry of Crab Michelin three-star restaurant, is very popular and requires advance reservation. Here, you order by first selecting the size of the shrimp and crab, and then choosing the cooking method. We chose shrimp weighing 200-250g and crabs weighing 900g and 1.1kg, and tried butter soy, pepper, and garlic chill flavors, plus the must-try garlic bread, two pitchers of iced tea, with a total consumption of 281 USD. 🏨 Marino Beach Hotel in Colombo This might be the most expensive hotel of the entire trip, at 700 per night without breakfast. The facilities are very luxurious (feeling like a four-star standard in China). The rooftop terrace has an infinity pool that seems to connect with the Indian Ocean, and almost every room offers an incredible sea view. There is a sea train passing by downstairs, and taking a top-down shot of the train from the rooftop platform feels very impressive. #Ministry of Crab#Marino Beach Hotel#The Sea Train#Spa Ceylon#Sri lanka#travel diary#Kandy#Colombo
