Fab Ceylon — Restaurant in Central Province

My recent visit to Fab Ceylon - Kandy, located on the second floor, left much to be desired. Despite the promising atmosphere, my experience was marred by several significant issues that hindered our enjoyment.

Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted by an okay atmosphere, but it was immediately apparent that the air-conditioning was not functioning properly. The discomfort from the heat persisted throughout our stay.

The service was another sore point. With only two waitresses managing the entire establishment, it was no surprise that we waited over 15 minutes before anyone approached our table to take our order. Frustrated, we resorted to calling their hotline number, after which a member of the management finally took our order.

We specifically requested that our chicken soup be served before the Shovel rice, which included mixed non-veg with beef. However, our instructions were ignored as the Shovel rice arrived first. Adding to our dismay, we had to eat with our hands initially because it took several minutes for the waiter to bring us water and spoons.

To our surprise, the Shovel rice did not contain any beef as ordered. Midway through our makeshift meal, the waiter finally arrived with spoons and water glasses. We continued eating, expecting the chicken soup to arrive shortly thereafter. Disappointingly, we waited an additional 15 minutes with no sign of our soup. Once again, I had to resort to calling their hotline to request the invoice.

To their credit, a waiter promptly appeared with the invoice, but the inefficiency persisted as it took another ten minutes for my credit card payment to be processed.

Overall, our experience at Fab Ceylon was a frustrating exercise in patience and tolerance. The disorganized service, coupled with the repeated failures to deliver our orders correctly and timely, left us regretting our decision to dine there. I recently dined at Fab Ceylon in Kandy during the Perahera season, so it was understandably busy. 📅

The location was easy to find and super convenient. 📍 The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a meal. The décor inside was vibrant and charming. It’s definitely a spot for taking photos! 📸✨

They have a digital menu, which you can access by scanning a QR code at the table—super modern and easy to use! 📱📋

The staff seemed tired, and even though we arrived earlier, they served other tables before us. 😓👎 We had to wait about 45 minutes for our meal to arrive, which felt like forever. ⏳😞

I tried their signature Fab Ceylon Shovel Rice, and it was absolutely delicious! 🍽️😋 The flavors were unique and satisfying.

However, when they served the Shovel Rice, the waiter didn’t give me a second to open my camera for a picture—just rushed it onto the papers. 🤦‍♂️📸

The place was quite noisy, making it difficult to enjoy a peaceful meal. 🔊🍽️

Despite the service, the food portions were generous. We couldn’t finish everything, so they kindly packed the leftovers for us to take away. 🍱👍

The restaurant is spacious, with two floors, so even though it was packed, it didn’t feel cramped. 🏢💺

Parking was a real issue. There were no spots available nearby due to the central location. Can park at the municipal car park and walk over. 🚗🚶‍♂️

Overall, while the food was great, the service didn’t match the price we paid. I hope they improve this in the future. 💸🙁
