Travelogue: Karlsruhe Palace - The Heart of a Fan-Shaped City 🇩🇪🏰
Karlsruhe, located in southwestern Germany's Baden-Württemberg state (173 km²), is the region's second-largest city after Stuttgart. This unique "fan-shaped city" radiates outward from its magnificent centerpiece - the Karlsruhe Palace. 🏛️ Palace Turned Museum The palace now houses the Baden State Museum, the largest cultural history museum in the region. Though closed during my visit (holiday season), I admired its exterior. Truth be told, as a budget traveler back then, I might have skipped the entrance fee anyway! 😅 🌳 Palace Grounds Highlights Symmetrical Beauty: The palace is perfectly bilateral (see photos!) Academic Neighbor: Right next to KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) where our conference was held 🎓 Versailles Inspiration: Modeled after the famous French palace 🗿 Historical Significance The square features: A modest but well-landscaped plaza A bronze statue of Margrave Karl Wilhelm, the city's founder The exact point from which the entire fan-shaped city design originates #TravelDiaries #EuropeTravel #Karlsruhe #GermanHistory #ArchitectureLovers ✈️📸
