Travelogue|2-Day Highlight Tour of Maine Day 2️⃣

The second day was focused in downtown Portland. I have to say—this city is super convenient! Every attraction is within a 15-minute drive. 🚗 📍 Portland Head Light → Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse → Bug Light We ticked off three lighthouses from north to south. Only Portland Head Light charges for parking; the others are free. It was a cloudy drizzly day—not the best for photos, but the mood was uniquely calming. 🌧️🕯️ 📍 Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad The scenic train ride takes about 40 minutes and passes many famous spots in the city. Would be totally worth it on a sunny day! Tickets are $16 for standard, $21 for first class (includes drinks & snacks). 🚂 📍 Becky’s Diner A popular local family-style diner. We skipped more lobster rolls (still full from yesterday 😅) and went for fried scallops and clam chowder—pretty good! 🥣 📍 ISF Trading The sashimi and uni were fairly fresh, but the uni was a bit lean and not very sweet. Not as impressive as some Xiaohongshu posts claimed. You could probably skip this one. 🍣 📍 The Holy Donut As a donut connoisseur from Montreal, I highly recommend these potato flour donuts! 🍩 Not too sweet? Try Old Fashioned. Sweet & salty bomb? Go for Maple Bacon or Holy Cannoli. 📍 Gorgeous Gelato Authentic Italian gelato. Highly recommend the local blueberry flavor! 🍦🇮🇹 📍 Fore Street This street is full of unique local shops—lots of ceramics and art made in Maine. Much more interesting than the main Commercial Street. ℹ️ If it’s Sunday, look for street parking. Most public lots charge $20 for the day. On the way back, we made a accidental detour while refueling in Newport, Vermont—a lovely little town with a lakeside park. The water was a misty gray-blue… so serene I could’ve sat there all day. 🏞️ It’s in moments like these that I’m reminded of the true meaning of travel. Grateful for the unexpected views. 💙 #Maine #VisitMaine #PortlandMaine #BostonDayTrip #MontrealDayTrip #TravelBits #TravelDiary
