Trendy Japanese Yakitori in DTLA 🍢✨
Had a meeting in DTLA yesterday—since I was already in the city, I had to grab a meal before heading home (no one wants to sit in LA traffic hungry and grumpy 😤). Good timing—the AMEX Platinum card recently updated, and the Resy dining benefit increased to $100 per quarter 💳🎉. I checked Resy and found a highly-rated Japanese yakitori spot called Hatch right near the meeting location. Surprisingly, it was wide open on a Tuesday night, so we headed over right after the meeting. The head chef is Mexican, so the restaurant has a fresh Japanese-Mexican fusion vibe 🌮🍣. Anime plays on a loop inside, and the menu design is super cute—you can really feel the owner’s love for Japanese anime culture 🎌📺. Another interesting detail: they really love the color black 🖤. The deeper you go into the restaurant, the dimmer the lighting gets—the restroom is completely blacked out. Several dishes are also dark in color (but still delicious!), and the staff dresses all in black. Felt a bit over-the-top but memorable 😅. They have weekday happy hour (4–6 PM) with half-price on popular dishes (but portions are also half-sized 🧐). We ordered about ten dishes—all were great (check the pics 📸!). My personal favorites were the Pork Belly and Beef Tongue 👅🔥. Total for two: $108—perfectly used up the Resy AMEX benefit just before the quarter ends! ✅ #YakitoriLover #JapaneseYakitori #DTLA #LosAngeles #JapaneseCuisine #Hatch #IzakayaFood #AmexPlatinum #ResyBenefit #AnimeVibes #FusionFood #HappyHourFinds
