Trying Chinese Food at New Peking in Kansas City 🥢
Not far from our hotel, we stumbled upon New Peking, a Chinese restaurant that once earned a spot among America’s Top 100 Chinese Restaurants — so of course, we had to try it! The staff were energetic and efficient — one silver-haired server moved like lightning. Though his hair was white, he looked years younger than us — probably by over a decade. A busy restaurant is always a good sign, and this one was buzzing with both dine-in guests and takeout orders. 🥡 The Food: Most dishes were quite satisfying — flavorful and well-prepared. The only letdown was the scallion pancake, which had a somewhat doughy, undercooked texture that didn’t quite hit the mark. Everything else? Solid and tasty! 💵 The Bill: Meal total: $150 Tip: $30 Final: $180 — not bad for a hearty Chinese meal in the heart of Kansas City. If you’re in the area and craving familiar flavors, New Peking is a reliable stop — just maybe skip the scallion pancake 😉 #KansasCityEats #ChineseFood #NewPeking #FoodReview #ComfortFood #DiningInKC #MidwestEats
