Tucson Summer Activity: Night Visit to Sabino

1. This week, as the moist air from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico poured in, the first thunderstorm finally arrived, marking Tucson's official entry into the monsoon season. 😊🌩️🌬️ The desert, which had been sweltering throughout the early summer, finally seemed to come to life and start "breathing" again. πŸ˜ŽπŸœοΈπŸ’¨ 2. As night fell, the little creatures in the desert couldn't wait to come out and have their own little celebration. πŸ˜ƒπŸŒ™πŸŽ‰ Almost every Tucson resident has been to Sabino Canyon. However, its most special way to be explored, which only a few people have experienced, is the "night hike". 😊🏞️🚢 It's the niche summer activity that we look forward to the most every year. It's also a unique way to get to know the desert and its flora and fauna. πŸ˜ŽπŸŒ΅πŸ¦‹ 3. πŸŒ™ Tips for the Night Hike πŸ›£οΈ Routes & Pace β€’ Most of the paths are paved, flat and easy, not overly challenging. It's more like taking a leisurely stroll than a strenuous hike. πŸ˜ƒπŸ—ΊοΈπŸšΆ People usually walk at a slow pace, stopping from time to time to look for small animals, chat with each other, or take pictures. πŸ˜ŠπŸ“·πŸ—£οΈ πŸ”¦ Equipment Suggestions β€’ The light from your mobile phone is usually sufficient. (If you want to spot scorpions, you can bring a UV flashlight, and you'll be able to see them emitting a blue-green fluorescence.) πŸ˜ŽπŸ“±πŸ”¦ β€’ Don't forget to bring water and stay hydrated as the summer nights can still be quite hot. πŸ˜ƒπŸ’§πŸŒ‘οΈ β€’ It's advisable to wear long pants and bring mosquito repellent spray to avoid getting bitten. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘–πŸ¦Ÿ 🐾 Safety Precautions β€’ In theory, there are coyotes and mountain lions in the desert, but we've never encountered them. They usually stay away when there are a lot of people around. 😎🦊🦁 β€’ Near the river channels, you might occasionally see a family of javelinas (often translated as wild pigs). Generally, they won't cause any trouble. πŸ˜ƒπŸ—πŸžοΈ β€’ Dogs are not allowed in the park, except for service dogs. πŸ˜ŠπŸ•πŸš« 4. πŸŒ™ Introvert-Friendly: It's dark, the pace is slow, and the atmosphere is relaxed. All you can hear throughout the whole activity is the sound of nature, which is really soothing. It's an activity that's perfect for those who are introverted and prefer a slower pace. πŸ˜ƒπŸŒ³πŸŽ΅ It offers a chance to unwind and connect with the natural world in a peaceful and unique way. πŸ˜ŠπŸŒŒπŸ’– #TucsonSummer #SabinoNightHike #DesertAdventure
