🎭 Turin's Royal Opera House 🎭

🏰 Teatro Regio Torino is located in Piazza Castello, a landmark in Turin, Italy, and was once part of the royal palace. It was inaugurated on December 26, 1740, commissioned by Duke Vittorio Amedeo II and built by architect Filippo Juvarra. After several changes in ownership and name, it was tragically destroyed by a fire in 1936. In 1967, designer Carlo Mollino took over, and after decades of restoration, the new opera house was inaugurated on April 10, 1973. Carlo Mollino paid homage to the Baroque prototype with curves and a creative modern design. Initially, Mollino had to face many challenges, especially since the new theater had to be part of the existing urban context with significant historical architectural importance and had to be integrated with the surviving simple façade of the Alfieri. The visual pleasure of Teatro Regio lies in the surreal design, the use of curves and curves, and the richness of red. The new design maintains classical elegance but in a way that understands and communicates with the fashion of the present, while maintaining a dialogue with the human experience of opera. 👨‍🎨 Architect: Carlo Mollino #GrandTheater #ArtCenter #ArchitecturalArt #ClassicalArchitecture #ArchitecturalAesthetics #OperaHouse #TurinRoyalTheater
