Two days, second visit to Blue Water Seafood—this level…
No words, really no words, today was even better than yesterday! Yesterday I went to the Ocean Beach location, today I specifically came to the India Street one. Since it’s close to the airport, I decided to make it my final meal before leaving San Diego ✨. While waiting in line, an elderly gentleman in front of me told me this restaurant is “the best,” “the most authentic seafood” 👍. He also said this location is better than the OB one (though he admitted OB has a nicer view). Even though he lives near Pacific Beach, closer to the OB branch, he prefers this India Street spot—it has his favorite scallop taco 🌮, which isn’t available at OB, and many dishes are exclusive here. So, he’s willing to drive farther just for this place. 🥙 Salmon Poke Bowl | $13 I originally wanted to order the combo sashimi appetizer, but I noticed “poke bowl” on the specialty list, and I’ve never seen a poke bowl this affordable in my life, so I went for it! When served, the rice and poke were actually separate—which worked out fine, since I wouldn’t finish it all and wouldn’t mess up the clean rice 😊. Though it didn’t look like a typical poke bowl, the taste was just as good as what I had in Hawaii! The salmon was super fresh 🍣, and the sauce was light, not overpowering the natural flavor of the fish. The jasmine rice was simply the best I’ve ever had! It had a subtle savory aroma, not just plain rice, and was served warm. Paired with the salmon, it seemed to melt in my mouth—absolutely delightful 💖. 🍲 Clam Chowder | Cup $5.75 This “cup,” my friend, is as big as a “bowl” anywhere else! After ordering, the server ladles a bowl right in front of you, piping hot. The soup is thick and creamy like mashed potatoes, with soft potato chunks and plenty of shellfish meat. Though there were tiny traces of sand occasionally, it didn’t affect the enjoyment at all. The soup is rich and smooth, with chewy bits of squid and clams, so this bowl is quite filling. But it’s so delicious! Dipping a taco into this soup takes the flavor to another level 🌟. 🌮 Beer-Buttered Scallop Taco | $8.50 I hesitated between this and the scallop taco recommended by the gentleman, but since I’d already ordered the first two items, I just wanted to focus on the scallops rather than the whole taco experience, so I chose the simpler option. The taco came with tomatillo sauce on the side, which tasted refreshing. The corn tortilla here wasn’t too strong in flavor and was toasted until crispy—definitely more to my liking than the OB branch! 😋 Ending my San Diego trip with such a seafood feast was truly satisfying. #SanDiegoFood #SeafoodLover #PokeBowl #ClamChowder #Taco #TravelDiary #FoodExploration
