Uji City The Tale of Genji Museum 🌿 (2)
🏮▪️ "The Tale of Genji" gave birth to the quintessentially Japanese romantic concept of "mono no aware" (the awareness of the impermanence of things), and this idea is reflected throughout the museum. Every display is meticulously crafted, with numerous models that recreate the era. 🌿 You can purchase tickets from a machine at the entrance, and staff members are on hand to guide you. One highlight is a special animated film where the protagonist, as a cat, time-travels to the Heian period and witnesses events in Murasaki Shikibu's life, sparking a dialogue across time. 🌿 🏮▪️ I almost made it just in time for the closing hour, so my visit was a bit rushed. By the time I reached the last few sections, the lights were already off, and the staff were waiting nearby for me to leave. 🌿 They didn't rush me with words, though. It's hard to put into words how much I loved it, so I'll share some photos I took. The ukiyo-e and kimono styles are so Japanese and so beautiful. 🌿 It was worth skipping Uji's sweets to head straight to the museum! 🍂 #Museum 🌿 #MuseumVisit 🌟
