Under the Stars at LEILA: A Persian Night in San Diego

When looking for good food in San Diego, I stumbled upon a restaurant where you can “look up at the stars”—📍LEILA. This place truly made me feel that a restaurant could tell a story just like a book. Stepping inside felt like an instant transport to a desert oasis 🌴. The whole space was arranged like a two-story inn beside a valley stream, with a large tree (I guessed it was a date palm) in the courtyard. Sitting under the tree for a meal, looking up, you could see starry lights twinkling on the ceiling ✨. Even though indoors, it gave the romantic illusion of dining under the stars in a wild courtyard—perfect for relaxing. As for the food, there are a few must-tries! The naan is freshly baked, served warm, soft, and wonderfully chewy—so fragrant 😋. The chicken shawarma hummus is also delicious, smooth with just the right amount of spices. The beef kabob skewers were juicy and flavorful, every bite satisfying 👍. I also tried the hand-pulled lamb rice, which had some crispy rice at the bottom—quite unique—but the spices were strong, and it included dried fruits, giving it a slight tang. If you’re not used to these flavors, you might want to think twice~ Overall, LEILA not only has an atmospheric setting but also offers distinctive food. Dining here feels like a brief escape from the city, enjoying a warm dinner under the desert stars 🌟.
