I can’t believe no one talks about Hammerheads enough! My first time in Louisville, I tried the fried chicken at The Eagle — unique but way too salty 🧂. The second time, I went to Claudia Sanders Dinner House (Colonel Sanders’ original spot). The buffet was just okay — their original recipe chicken didn’t wow us, and we decided not to return. So on our third visit, we did our homework — checked , Google, and Google Maps — and finally chose Hammerheads, hidden in a quiet neighborhood. And it did NOT disappoint! 📍 Location: Close to downtown but tucked away in a residential area. 🏠 Vibe: The exterior has two giant shark statues 🦈 — hard to miss! The interior is cool and rustic (wish I took photos 😭). 🍽️ Atmosphere: It’s a bit noisy (there’s a bar), but clean and spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. 👏 Service: Everyone was super friendly and energetic! 🍴 What We Ordered: 🧀 Mac & Cheese Balls: Crispy outside, gooey inside — a must for mac & cheese lovers! 🥪 Duck Sandwich: Smoky, slightly spicy, tender pulled duck — reminds me of Buckee’s pork sandwich 🦆🔥. 🦌 Elk Burger: Their signature — hearty patty, well-seasoned (not a burger person, but it was solid!). 🍖 Lamb Ribs (½ rack): Fall-off-the-bone tender! Light gaminess balanced with rich meat andnotes. Perfect with their dark BBQ-style sauce. 🍟 Grippo Fries (+$3 for duck fat frying): CRACK-level good 😱! Sweet-spicy seasoning tasted like Chinese fried chicken powder + plum salt. Crispy outside, soft inside — we finished the whole basket! 💵 Price: Around $35 per person.
