Visiting the US Capitol in the "Lighthouse Country" πΏ
The Capitol Visitor Center offers free tours that don't require advance reservations. ποΈ The latest entry time is 2:30 PM. Upon arrival, you'll first head to a small theater to watch a promotional video. π It highlights America's favorable environment, superior system, and the history of its founding, as well as the construction process of the Capitol. π Americans are truly proud of these aspects. π Then, a guide will lead you through the Statuary Hall and the Rotunda. ποΈ πThey'll briefly introduce the names and origins of each statue.π I didn't recognize any of the names, but I learned that each state can send two statues for display, and they can be rotated. I expected to see religious-themed frescoes on the dome, but instead, there were depictions of Washington and 15 women. π It felt like Washington was being somewhat deified, similar to Jesus, especially when compared to the church frescoes in Europe that mainly feature God or Jesus. ποΈ The tour lasts about an hour. The area is cleared at 4 PM.π #USCapitol #WashingtonDC #InternationalTravel #SeeingTheWorldποΈ
