Park Omega + Ottawa + 1000 Islands

๐ŸŒŸFor the Thanksgiving long weekend, our target was Park Omega, kicking off a three-day road trip. Park Omega, located in Quebec, just outside of Ottawa, is a wildlife park where the biggest highlight is being able to feed carrots to animals right from your car window. Itโ€™s also a great spot for autumn foliage viewing. Itโ€™s a 6-hour drive from Toronto, which is quite a rush for a round trip in one day, so itโ€™s perfect to combine a long weekend and drop by Ottawa and the 1000 Islands along the way. ๐ŸŒŸDay 1: We took a break at the Big Apple, tried their famous apple pie, and found it rather ordinary. We arrived at Park Omega at 3 PM and stayed until closing time, a full 3 hours. There are two spots in the park where you can get out of the car and have a chance to get close to the deer. The rest is a 12km driving loop with each type of animal in its own section. We stayed in downtown Ottawa and tried the well-known Shanghai Wonton Noodle House, which was indeed good ๐Ÿ‘. Compared to a few years ago, Ottawa is now overrun with homeless people; the Canada we knew is gone, thanks ๐Ÿฅ”. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸDay 2: We had a city trip in Ottawa, with many attractions within walking distance of the downtown area. We started the morning at the Bank of Canada Museum and then went to the Parliament Immersive Experience and Senate visit (requires advance booking). In the afternoon, we walked along the Rideau Canal through Majorโ€™s Hill Park to visit the National Gallery and then explored Byward Market. Before leaving Ottawa, we hiked a bit at Pink Lake Trail to see the fall colors and stayed the night in Brockville. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸDay 3: We started the day by taking photos at the famous Brockville Railway Tunnel, then avoided the 401 and took the 1000 Islands Parkway for better scenery. We reached Gananoque and took a 1000 Islands cruise. We chose the 3-hour itinerary, turning around at Boldt Castle (without disembarking). The cabin was packed with people, and the scenery was quite ordinary, a total letdown ๐Ÿ‘Ž. #TorontoLife #Ottawa
