Visitor Tells You the Must-See Highlights of the SD Safari Park! 🐯🦒
San Diego has two famous zoos: the Downtown Zoo and the Safari Park. The Safari Park's biggest feature is—it's HUGE! And you can see some animals up close like never before. Here’s a detailed look at the best parts! 🐘🌿 ✨ Must-See Highlights Rundown: 1️⃣ Tigers Sharing a Mountain 🐅 There are 4 Sumatran tigers here, including a mother and cub sharing a territory! I even made eye contact with one—seeing it drool made me shiver a little 😂. They love water and have a waterfall in their habitat. Staff recommend visiting in the morning or evening when they’re most active. The closest viewing spot is less than 3 meters away—or just centimeters if you're behind glass! 2️⃣ The World’s Rare Platypus 🦆+🐻❄️ This is the only place outside Australia where you can see a platypus! Its flat body zips through the water—it's incredibly cute. You’ll also learn fun facts about this unique creature. (Check my previous post for a video!) 3️⃣ Eight Majestic Elephants 🐘 The Safari Park has a dedicated elephant exhibit where you can observe their daily life from a close vantage point. Knowledgeable guides are there to answer questions—so educational! There might be a line; we waited about 30 minutes. 4️⃣ Adorably Tall Giraffes 🦒 At the Safari Park, you need to take the Africa Tram to see the giraffes. Unlike the Downtown Zoo where you can feed them up close for $8, here their space is much larger and more natural. If you want to feed them, you’ll need to take a special safari truck tour. But seeing them roam freely is unforgettable! 🌿 Helpful Tips: • Go on a cooler day—animals are more active! ☁️ • If bringing kids, a stroller is super useful—otherwise, you might end up carrying them a lot! 👶 • Plan a full day so you can explore slowly and comfortably. No rush! ⏳ Parking was free this month for members (check if this applies to all membership tiers before you go). For a fun, educational family day out, the San Diego Safari Park gets a full 10/10 recommendation! 💯 What’s your favorite animal encounter at a zoo or safari park?
