Want to Take You to See the Pink-Purple Salt Lake 💖💜

Back in May, I was on a flight passing over Salt Lake City. Peering out the tiny window, I spotted these incredible block-like colors below—it was so beautiful that I immediately pulled up the in-flight entertainment system’s "Flight Path Map" to figure out where we were! 🗺️✈️ I couldn’t wait to mark the spot and plan a trip with my friends later. But the map’s zoom was limited, and all I could tell was that we were near Salt Lake City—not exactly helpful info 😅. Still, I knew a place this stunning must’ve been discovered by others already. So after landing, I searched “Pink lake, Salt Lake City” and found it pretty quickly! (Funny side note: While I was busy searching for a pink lake miles away, I realized on another flight that there’s actually one right near my hometown too—close to San Jose Airport! 😆) The pink lake I found online wasn’t exactly the one I saw from the air, but it was still totally worth it—easy to drive to, open to the public, and safe/legal! 🚗💨 We navigated to Spiral Jetty (near Corinne, UT). Part of the route had no cell service, but we sang along to offline music the whole way 🎶… though I did spill my bestie’s water all over the back seat, leaving her soaked from waist to back 🤦♀️💦. We had to squeeze into a gas station restroom where she bent over while I held her dress and used the hand dryer to save the day 😂👗. When we arrived, the sunlight was so bright we couldn’t clearly see the lake’s color from afar. I kept insisting, “Trust me! It’s pink! I saw it from the plane!” 🗣️💖 As we got closer, by late June, the water had a subtle “purple-blue” tone (the color changes with seasons and temperatures due to microorganisms in the salt lake). It wasn’t the soft Morandi pink I’d seen from above (though my edited photos are pretty close to what we actually saw!). Under the blazing afternoon sun, with hardly anyone around, we laughed, ran around, took photos, and—most importantly—filmed a “surprise proposal video” for a close friend 🎥💍. Since we couldn’t make it back to China for his proposal, my bestie and I chose this romantic spot to send our warm wishes! ❤️🌎 My friend took thousands of photos we all loved (not just here, but everywhere on that trip!). As for me? I’m all enthusiasm but zero skill 📸😬—after proudly claiming “This looks so cool!” each time, I realized later that 2,980 out of the 3,000 photos I took for him were blurry! I still haven’t dared to face him since zooming in on those shots… especially since I was the one eagerly demanding he pose here and there 😂. But you know what? It was still incredibly beautiful—especially because I was there with friends. 👭✨ #SaltLakeCity #PinkLake #SpiralJetty #UtahTravel #RoadTripMemories #FriendshipGoals #TravelBlunders #NatureMagic #UniqueLandscapes #AdventureAwaits
