Washington DC | Is Peruvian Cuisine This Delicious? ๐ฅฌ๐ต๐ช
๐ Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar Driven by curiosity about the flavors of Peruvian cuisine ๐ฅฌ๐ต๐ช, this was the first restaurant I booked for my early March DC trip. The result? Unforgettable! I couldn't stop thinking about coming back for more while I was eating. Two weeks later, when I heard that the cherry blossoms hadn't bloomed yet, my first thought was to ask my buddy, "If our estimated time at the Tidal Basin gets cut short, can we swing by Pisco again?" Their Ceviche is a must-try! Weโve had the Sampler and the Mixto. The Sampler includes Tradicional, Cremoso, and Callejera โ a range from refreshing to rich, playing with acidity like a pro. Each one is delicious, and it's impossible to rank them. The Mixto is also interesting, mixing ceviche with fried squid rings. The batter on the squid rings has a savory aroma reminiscent of KFCโs Original Recipe chicken โ and itโs yummy too! (Chomp, chomp, chomp) I recommend starting with the Sampler to experience all three joys at once!๐ ๐ Plancha Pulpo : When the grilled octopus leg arrived at the table, we couldn't help but gasp. It looked incredibly appetizing! And it tasted just as good as it looked. The octopus leg was thick, tender, and bouncy. Paired with Chimichurri sauce, the Maillard reaction's rich aroma, the octopus's freshness, and the stimulating blend of spices, lemon juice, and vinegar all came together for a truly satisfying experience! ๐ธ Pisco Sour : The menu mentioned egg whites, which made me hesitant at first (I had a bad experience with an un-fresh egg white in a drink before). Thankfully, my friend insisted and ordered a Passion. After the first sip, I regretted not getting the Flight! Itโs tangy and sweet, very easy to drink, and pairs perfectly with the richer main dishes. In addition to these three, we also tried grilled beef heart (Corazon), flaky empanadas, Peruvian seafood rice (Arroz Con Mariscos), and lamb shank (Tacu Seco De Cordero). The empanadas had an incredibly fragrant crust! But theyโre also very filling โ they donโt look big, but theyโre surprisingly satisfying. The lamb had a strong lamb flavor, so be cautious if that bothers you (personally, I love lamb and enjoyed it). But because the appetizers were so amazing, the main courses, although tasty, seemed a bit overshadowed in comparison.๐ The prices here aren't cheap, but the portions are generous. They also offer mixed tasting plates, which are perfect for those who want to try several different flavors at once (like me!). It feels like the ideal spot to meet up with friends for some appetizers and drinks. I can't even imagine how happy I was! In short, they know how to cook (especially how to handle acidity!). I highly recommend giving it a try if youโre interested!๐ #GlobalVillageFoodieContest #AmericasPartyCorner #WashingtonDC #PeruvianCuisine
