Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle
✨The Washington Park Arboretum was established in the early 20th century by the University of Washington. The university is located on the north side of the 520 floating bridge, while the arboretum stretches narrowly from north to south on the south side, covering a considerable area. ✨To this day, it remains a teaching and research base for botany-related programs at the University of Washington. 🥰At the southern end of the arboretum lies the Pacific Connections Gardens, which consists of five regional gardens: Pacific Northwest, China, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. We were particularly excited about this area and encountered a gardener in his 40s while exploring. ✔️We were curious about the differences in plants across the regions, but near the Chinese Garden, we could only find the Chilean Garden. Perhaps the lush growth of flowers and plants obscured the boundaries and signs between the sections. 🌞Azalea Way runs north-south through the arboretum, flanked not only by azaleas but also by dogwoods, cherry blossoms, and other flowers. By June, only a few scattered azaleas were still in bloom, as the prime viewing season is from March to May. It’s hard to imagine how stunning the garden must look during its peak!
