🍖 Weekend in Kansas City | Food + Escape Rooms 🗝️

Spent a long weekend in Kansas City playing escape rooms and finally used my Delta companion ticket! First stop: the legendary Burnt Ends at Jack Stack BBQ — a must-try KC specialty famously featured by Anthony Bourdain. Tender, smoky, and packed with flavor… absolutely loved it 😍! Also tried Q39—delicious, but Jack Stack won my heart. Over three days, we tackled 🔟 escape rooms! My favorite was Tick Tock Escape Room (a local non-chain). You can really feel the owner’s passion in every detail—highly recommended for room escape enthusiasts! 🥢 Tried Sichuan Dynasty, known as the “best Chinese food in town.” Ordered Dan Dan Noodles and Sichuan Pepper Beef—way too salty even for my tolerance 🥵 (I’m from Atlanta, a known food desert… but KC might be worse 😂). Learned to ask for “less salt” the next day. The beef noodle soup was okay, but the noodles were basic instant style. Bang Bang Chicken and Bitter Melon Egg were average. 🌦️ Weather whiplash alert! We experienced all four seasons in four days: Thursday: summer (18-25°C) Friday: spring/fall (6-20°C) Saturday → Sunday: full winter (0-6°C) ❄️ Couldn’t wait to get back to Southern warmth! 🥛 Found the local favorite Shatto Milk—must-try flavors like Cotton Candy, Chocolate, and Strawberry. Rich but not overly sweet (rare in the US!). But… fair warning ⚠️: their Root Beer flavor tastes like toothpaste + herbal ointment. Even as a mint lover, I was not prepared! ✅ Overall, loved Kansas City: Clean, safe streets (zero homeless camps compared to LA/Denver/SF) Airport is modern and comfortable Perfect for foodies and escape room lovers Will definitely be back for more burnt ends #KansasCity #KCFood #EscapeRoom #BBQLover #TravelUSA #ShattoMilk #WeekendGetaway
