What I Ate During My 2‑Day LA Layover Before Flying Home 🛫

Graduated and had a layover at LAX — spent two days exploring LA and living out my California dreams (thanks, Lana Del Rey & GTA5 😆). I skipped Chinese food and picked spots that are hard to find back home or offer better value here. 🥩 Bone‑in Ribeye|60‑day dry‑aged|Medium‑Rare $4.50/oz — good meat, but didn’t quite meet my expectations. 🌭 Smoked Kielbasa — Interesting Polish sausage, worth a try. 🍹 Margarita Verde — Cucumber + black pepper rim = refreshing and complex. Hummingbird — Pretty standard rum drink. 📍 Water Grill (DTLA — also in Santa Monica) 🦪 Iced Shellfish Platter (The Grand, 1‑2 people) Oysters are pricier in CA than NYC, but very sweet. The platter was varied, though the lobster wasn’t the freshest. 🦞 New England Lobster Roll — ABSOLUTELY INSANELY GOOD. Buttered, toasted bun packed with lobster meat — perfect balance of texture and flavor. Will I ever eat a lobster roll this good again…? 🍣 Honeymoon Oyster (Oyster sushi) 🍸 Bartender’s Special: Abbey Road 📍 Daikokuya (Little Tokyo) The decor is old‑school Japan — even the restroom had a wall of toilet paper (made me smile 😄). Authentic vibe — felt like a quick trip to Osaka. 🍜 Cold Soup Ramen — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend! Loaded with wasabi — refreshing, perfect for warm weather, and affordable. 🍜 Daikoku Ramen with black garlic oil — rich but not heavy. 🍣 California Roll — solid and good value (had to try it in CA!). 🍳 Eggslut (Grand Central Market) — right across from Angel’s Flight. 🥓 Bacon, Egg & Cheese — phenomenal. 🍞 Fairfax Sandwich — scrambled eggs with a ton of butter = incredibly fragrant. This place changed my view of egg sandwiches — so much better than the bland versions I’ve had back home. Perfect brunch spot! #LALayover #LAFood #DTLAEats #LittleTokyo #LobsterRoll #Eggslut #CaliforniaEats 🍴🌴
