đ´ What I Ate in Charlotte (Part 2)
Continuing my food adventure in the Queen Cityâhere are two more spots with unique vibes! â Community Matters Cafe (Uptown) Tucked a bit off the busy Uptown strip, this cozy spot caught my eye on Google Maps (great reviews!). Tried their Americano and Classic Cafe Breakfastâsolid American fare with a heartwarming twist â¤ď¸. Americano: Smooth and balancedâno harsh acidity or bitterness, easy to sip â. Breakfast Platter: Home-made potatoes đĽ: Simple, clean flavor (not over-seasoned). Gets a bit plain halfwayâadd black pepper for a kick! Whole-grain toast đ: Warm, buttery, and perfect with blueberry jam. Yogurt đĽ: My favorite! Not too sweet or tart, creamy texture with a hint of sweet granola. Delicious alone or mixed. Vibe: Great for chattingâmost diners were pairs, and the atmosphere was relaxed đŹ.Bonus: Itâs a nonprofit cafe empowering people recovering from addiction through service. You can donate extra when payingâsuch a meaningful mission! Price: ~$17 pre-tax for twoâaffordable and worth it. đ The Kingâs Kitchen (Third Ward, Uptown) Found this spot while wanderingâaccidentally walked past it during a Palestine protest (busy area with restaurants and historic buildings)! Fried Chicken + 3 Sides: Chicken đ: Decentâlike a less salty, crispy version of KFCâs original. Needs sauce (asked for spicy salsa, which helped!). Sides đĽ: Carolina rice, sweet red potato, and a tangy R-named slaw (weirdly addictive!). Blackberry Ramble Cocktail đš: Recommended by the serverâstandard gin drink with blackberry, but way better with the thin straws! They mellow the alcohol taste, making it smoother. Vibe: Fun and lively, with a wall of âfriendsâ (supporters) behind the bar. Their craft beer and wine list are more standoutâthey partner with organizations to curate quarterly wine picks đˇ. Price: $11 for a quarter chicken, $11 for sides comboâfair for the portion. #CharlotteEats #CharlotteNC #UptownCharlotte #BrunchSpot #CommunityCafe #SoulFood #TravelEats #FoodieDiary
