What I Eat in LA's San Gabriel Valley & Arcadia ๐Ÿฅขโœจ

Living between SG and Arcadia means Iโ€™ve tried my fair share of spots โ€” here are the ones worth remembering (and repeating)! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿš ๐Ÿ– Sam Woo B.B.Q. | Cantonese Roast Meats A go-to for weekday lunches โ€” their roast duck is one of the best Iโ€™ve had in LA ๐Ÿฆ† (though American duck will never hit the same). Always solid, never fancy. ๐Ÿ› Golden Leaf | Taiwanese Classics Love their chicken rice and oyster omelette ๐Ÿณ! But as someone who avoids US pork, I still canโ€™t fully get behind their braised pork rice. ๐Ÿœ Chong Qing Xiao Mian | Spicy Noodles Noodles = ๐Ÿ‘! But that post-meal carb coma is real ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ’ค ๐Ÿ Tsujita LA | Tsukemen Delicious dipping noodles โ€” almost as good as the Japan location ๐Ÿœโœจ But in Japan, Iโ€™d probably skip Tsujita for smaller local spots. ๐Ÿฅ˜ Yang Guofu Malatang | Spicy Mix A friend recommended this dry mala mix โ€” perfect for summer when you want flavor without the soup sweat! ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ— J&G Fried Chicken | Crispy Goodness Drove all the way to Hacienda Heights for this โ€” those crispy chicken cartilages? ADDICTIVE. ๐Ÿข Old Street Skewers | Chinese BBQ Better than the Shunfa night market stall! If youโ€™re craving spicy wok-tossed skewers, this is the move. ๐ŸฅŸ Din Tai Fung | Forever Love No explanation needed โค๏ธ Pro tip: ordering takeout beats a 2-hour wait any day. ๐Ÿฅฌ Lu Niang Maocai | Spicy Bowls 1.5 lb minimum โ€” so I always split with a friend. So tasty, but my stomach isnโ€™t what it used to be ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ HK Macau Bistro | Cha Chaan Teng My weekday lunch canteen! That mixed sauce cheong fun? Iโ€™m obsessed. A legit Hong Kong-style cafe. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Pingโ€™s Bistro (Liuxiang) | Yunnan + Hunan Locations in Hacienda + Rowland Heights. Not sure how authentic, but itโ€™s flavorful and RICE-WORTHY. ๐Ÿ‚ Chaos Kitchen | Teochew Food Solid Teochew dishes with ho fun noodles โ€” service was fine? Not sure what the hateโ€™s about. ๐Ÿฒ Shancheng Lamian | Hot Pot Better value than Hai Di Lao โ€” which is weirdly overpriced in LA. ๐Ÿฅฎ Xibei / Meizhou Dongpo | Northern Chinese Some original Meizhou chefs are here! Menu is similar to China โ€” lamb is just okay though. ๐Ÿฅ” Jing Chang Potato Noodles Their chicken skeleton snack? SO GOOD. ๐Ÿซ” 101 Noodle Express Beef roll + beef noodle soup = classics done right. ๐Ÿฃ Akami Sushi | Neighborhood Spot Nothing special โ€” uni tasted bitter (probably US-sourced). ๐ŸฅŸ Shenyang Restaurant | Dongbei Food I usually go for cold noodles or dumplings alone โ€” but if I have a choice, Iโ€™d rather hit Yuchun in Ktown. ๐ŸŽ‰ Group Dinner Rotation: The Bund Kitchen Shanghai No. 1 Seafood Lou Wai Lou We just rotate these for big gatherings! Last year = Ktown + Little Tokyo โœ… This year = SG Valley โœ… Next mission: Finding the BEST PHO in LA ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ’› Any recs?
