What to Do in Auckland Summer? 🐚
Recently finished exams and had nothing to do, so I decided to go out, change the scenery, and clear my mind. Took the TMK bus from Downtown to St Heliers Bay (a bit further than Mission Bay), then walked the coastline along Tamaki Drive: St Heliers Bay → Kohimarama Beach → Mission Bay → Okahu Bay Beach → the boat sheds → Downtown (It’s basically the same route as the Round The Bays event.) The whole way, I was gazing at the sea, feeling the breeze, listening to favorite tunes in my headphones — it truly healed the mood. 🙏🌊 📍 Along the way: Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium Okahu Bay Wharf (under repair — can’t walk on it yet) Auckland Sailing Club, Akarana Yacht Club & Orakei Marina lighthouse Colorful boat sheds Lilliputt Mini Golf ☀️ Tips: UV is extreme! Wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Best to start in the afternoon — almost no shade along this route. Food options are limited until you reach the city — aside from Mission Bay and the Akarana Yacht Club café. Perfect excuse for a summer ice cream stop though! 🍦 Public toilets available at each beach. Tamaki Drive has shared pedestrian/cycle paths — stay in your lane. The last stretch follows the harbor edge with lovely port views. Once in Downtown, head to Commercial Bay Level 2 for food & drinks — a perfect finish. Still have energy? Grab takeaway and walk to Silo Park, find a bench, enjoy the breeze and people‑watching — or treat yourself to a nice waterfront dinner! 😋 #Auckland #AucklandSummer #CoastalWalk #TamakiDrive #CityToSea #NZSummer #WalkAndExplore #OutdoorVibes #HealingWalk
