What to Eat in New Orleans? 🤔🍽️

As a foodie obsessed with Southern cuisine, New Orleans has always been at the top of my must-visit list. I finally made the trip and tried several spots — overall decent, though not mind-blowing. Here’s my food diary: Cajun Seafood Boil Seafood House: First meal after landing! A small, chill spot. The boiled seafood was okay, gumbo was light on smoke and a bit thin, but the grilled oysters loaded with cheese had a unique twist. A solid choice if you're nearby. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big EZ Seafood: Feels like a local canteen — no frills, just fresh and affordable. They offer a wide variety (lobster, king crab, etc.). Flavors are on the milder side; the crawfish reminded me of Chinese mala crayfish! Saw plenty of locals getting takeout. For tourists, maybe not worth a special trip. ⭐⭐⭐ Creole Mr. B’s Bistro: My favorite of the trip! Located on bustling Royal St. next to Bourbon Street, yet surprisingly peaceful. They even drew curtains for window seats for extra privacy 😌. The gumbo stood out — deeply smoky, almost bitter, distinct from others. Fried oysters were forgettable, but the bread service was exceptional: crusty outside, soft inside, perfect with butter 🧈😍. The star was the Barbecue Shrimp — buttery, peppery, and so flavorful we bought a jar of the sauce to take home! Service was thoughtful too (they split our order into two plates). ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ Dessert Cafe Du Monde: Classic beignets — who can resist fried dough and powdered sugar? 🍩💖 Go later to avoid the crowds. Sucre: Cute decor right next to Mr. B’s. Desserts were just okay, but after watching Barbie, I’ve got a new appreciation for pink! 💕 A nice stop for coffee and vibes. #FoodDiary #NewOrleansEats #CajunFood #CreoleCuisine #TravelFoodie #NOLA
