What to Eat in Southern Portugal đ”đč - Faro Region đ
Dining in Portugal is effortlessly more delicious and cost-effective than in the UK. Hereâs a quick rundown of what we ate in Southern Portugal. ăFaroă đą CentenĂĄrio: Our first meal in Southern Portugalâso happy to enjoy lunch under the sun! Loved the Portuguese kebab, essentially the prototype of Brazilian churrasco. The giant skewers were satisfying. đŠ Taberna ZĂ©-ZĂ©: A popular spot in Faro, worth a visit. The owner is a master of marketing, bombarding us with his YouTube ads during the meal. The razor clams were plump and delicious. đ„Ș Cafetaria Chelsea Coffee & Brunch: Meh, very standard Western-style brunch. ăCarvoeiroă âïž Padaria FĂĄbrica Velha: Highly recommended! A super local breakfast joint filled with elderly regulars. Their bakery selection was great, and I miss the crispy Portuguese egg tarts. Closed on Sundays. âïž Pastelaria LĂ© Doce | Ledoce Coffee: Went here because the above was closed on Sunday. Crazy cheapâcoffee for âŹ1.60, cash only. đ Restaurante Casa Algarvia: A bustling restaurant with an open kitchen where you can watch chefs stir-frying over high heat. Fresh seafood is displayed at the entrance, and servers bring around the catch of the day to each table. đ· Taste Restaurante Carvoeiro: A newer-looking spot that serves Sunday roast (a testament to the British invasion of Southern Portugal). Delicious! ăPortimĂŁoă đ° BistrĂŽ CafĂ© com Farofa: A charming cafĂ© near the harbor. We wandered in randomly, and though the owner didnât speak English, several customers jumped in to translate. They highly recommended the homemade cakesâand they were indeed tasty. đ Carvi: Several restaurants were closed for winter in February, but we stumbled upon this place while Googling options. The vibe was nostalgic, with a freezer and fish tank at the entrance, reminiscent of old-school eateries. It was Valentineâs Day, and theyâd decorated with a heartâso sweet. ăLagosă đŠȘ O MexilhĂŁo: A modern Portuguese restaurant where mussels are a must-order (we got the last pot). They also serve some innovative dishes that looked risky but turned out alright. #Travel #FoodieAdventures #PortugueseCuisine #Faro #PortugalTravel #HiddenGems #EuropeTravel #SouthernPortugal
