What to Eat in the Bay Area This Weekend

My senior colleague flew in from Boston to the Bay Area today ✈️. Since Boston has really good Cantonese food, I picked a few Beijing and Hunan restaurants near SF for her to choose from. She mentioned she hadn’t had roast duck in a while, so we decided to go to Boiling Beijing 😋. Their Beijing-style menu is quite extensive—we ordered a small roast duck set, shredded pork in Beijing sauce, Mongolian lamb, Qianlong-style cabbage, thick soup, and lamb spine hot pot. 🍽️ Their roast duck is considered okay in the Bay Area, but whether it’s delicious or not is really a matter of personal preference 🤔. Personally, I’d say it’s just passable—nothing outstanding. I still prefer Kingwuu a bit more 🙏. Aside from the shredded pork in Beijing sauce, the other Beijing-style dishes were quite disappointing 😑. The Mongolian lamb lacked cumin and surprisingly used onions instead of leeks, making it taste like fajitas 🌮😅. Maybe all the leeks in the kitchen were reserved for the roast duck and shredded pork dish. The lamb spine hot pot was also a letdown—there were only a few small pieces of meat, and they were tough and dry, clearly not stewed long enough 🍖❌. The Qianlong-style cabbage and thick soup were decent 👍. 📍 Boiling Beijing 649 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066 #food #LifeInTheUS #StudyAbroadLife #BayAreaLife #BayAreaFood #RoastDuck #ChineseFoodLover #ChineseCuisine #BeijingCuisine #RestaurantRecommendation
