Where to Eat in New Orleans as a Grad Student — Ultimate Food Guide 🍤
Spent four days eating my way through New Orleans — loved the beignets, but missed out on lobster season 😢 🌟 Main Meals 🦞 Big EZ Seafood and Oyster First stop after landing! Tried crawfish (lobsters were small off-season). The EZ Blend Flavor (butter + lemon) was interesting. Spicy wasn’t hot enough for me. Garlic noodles were a solid add-on. 🍳 Ruby Slipper Popular brunch spot — ordered The Trifecta (three Benedicts: pork, shrimp, chicken). Huge portions, super filling! 🦀 BEARCAT CBD Another hot brunch spot. Crab scramble had generous crab meat and tender eggs, but way too salty. Rose latte was lovely though 🌹☕. 🍗 Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken 2-piece dark meat — crispy, juicy, flavorful. A bit greasy toward the end; maybe breast meat next time. 🍚 Zesty Creole Tried Jambalaya with chicken, shrimp, sausage. Shrimp & sausage stole the show. Huge serving — couldn’t finish it! 🥪 Cochon Butcher Came for the Muffaletta — amazing meats, crunchy bread, tasty pickles. A flavor explosion! 🧀 Sun Chong Bibimbap was standard, but cheesecake was a highlight — dense, rich, with a great cookie crust. 🌟 Snacks & Sweets 🥖 Cafe Du Monde – Classic beignets 🥨 Cafe Beignet – More beignet goodness ☕️ French Truck Coffee – Solid local brew 🍦 Kilwins Ice Cream – Sweet treat stop Also saved Creole Creamery (heard it’s great), and skipped oyster spots since I’m not a raw oyster fan 🦪. Ate seriously for four days — delicious and already want to go back! 😋 #StudyAbroadLife #StudyInUSA #NewOrleans #NOLAFoodGuide 🎉🍛🎺
