A great brunch spot! I'm a big fan. So much so that my husband and I visited two mornings back to back.
First day, I started off with a Watermelon Mimosa ($10.00). It was perfection - sweet, crisp and a great way to kick off my morning. For food, we both indulged from their specialties, I, the Biscuits and Gravy (buttermilk biscuits covered in country sausage gravy served with two eggs any style and Applewood-smoked bacon, $13.75) with a Fried Green Tomato (+$1.00) and my husband the Sweet Heat Chicken & French Toast Bites (fried chicken and fresh strawberries tossed in Mike's Hot Honey glaze over French toast bites ($15.75).
The B&G was some of the best I'd ever had. I’ll suggest if you like gravy, order extra. I'd never had a fried tomato before, so our incredible server was so kind as to include a lil bit of Tasso Cream Sauce because she wanted my first experience to be a great one! It was deliciously crispy and the tangy sauce delivered that extra zip to really make the meal come full circle.
The Chicken and French Toast Bites were astonishingly, ridiculously delicious. It's one-of-a-kind. The French toast had a very unique texture - crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. Combined with juicy chicken and fresh, sweet strawberries, this dish is all to write home about. Both my husband and I agreed we'd be thinking about it for a while. I can't recommend it enough!
The second time around was as great as the first. I ordered the Three Little Pigs Omelet (applewood-smoked bacon, ham, and sausage with Swiss cheese served with grits and a buttermilk biscuit) and my husband the White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes (filled with white chocolate bread pudding and cinnamon sugar topped with white chocolate whiskey sauce and white chocolate chips).
The Omelet was delicious - generously stuffed with bacon, ham and sauce covered in plenty of cheese bundled around a fluffy egg blanket. I failed myself and forgot to ask for cheese on the grits that would have really made the meal. No biggie - more room for pancakes.
The pancakes were seriously somethin' else - I MEAN IT. Three fat cakes completely smothered in sauce. It's very, very sweet. If you've got a sweet tooth, this one's for you. I'd almost recommend a side of eggs and bacon to counter the sugar.
FYI - One both days we arrived around 8:00-8:30am and were immediately seated. By the time we left around 9:30am groups outside had begun to form. When we walked by again around 11:00am, the entire place was packed and there were many groups waiting outside.
Phew, that was a lot but each dish deserved to be highlighted. My only regret? That I didn't come back for a third...

This place was recommended to us by a Chicago native. We live in Chicago and we're chillin like absolute villains at Timothy O'tooles (oldest bar in Chicago) when we came across this very nice dude. He's a bit older, like 30 years older than us. Really cool guy, wish him the best. He said the crab cake benedict at Ruby Slipper was amazing. This was after we told him we were gonna be in NOLA before the new year. We were so excited, like our whole trip was hyped up because of it. My girlfriend is a huge fan of egg benny and the crab cake element was the cherry on top. We got here and apparently it was taken off the menu!!!!!! Why!!!!!! Is it because seafood is even more expensive now? Not fair to the consumers at all, especially when they are willing to spend money. Anyway, continue below....
The restaurant itself is pretty compact. This can lead to some awkward, albeit, hilarious interactions/situations. The couple next to us sounded like the girl was trying to make the relationship work and the guy was not interested. Pretty sad obviously, kinda funny in hindsight, but to be honest it was a tad distracting and I wanted to give my girlfriend my undivided attention. She saw my eyes kinda glancing all over the place and I'm pretty sure I have ADHD (undiagnosed btw, but all the signs are there.)
There was another situation where an older guy had some liquid spilled on him by a server. Nobody's fault, these things happen. But he was clearly annoyed and it was a bit funny. What's even funnier is that like 2 min later, he turned around and accidentally bumped elbows with another server who was carrying a very, very fat mimosa. Obviously, this caused the mimosa to spill and lose some liquid. The consumer automatically got up and went to the bathroom, and I imagine it is because he was super embarrassed. I would've done the same thing. I hope he finds peace after that interaction. I really dont wish harm on anyone. I really dont know how this relates to the operations within the restaurant, maybe just the small space aspect of it. No...
Read moreI can only describe my experience here for brunch as.... weird. We were seated at a table and told if the fourth member of our table didn't get here in five minutes we'd be kicked out. That's understandable because I as a server get frustrated when a table is waiting for their party to get there and they just camp out for 30 minutes, so that wasn't an issue. Our fourth member came 30 seconds later. Our waitress took our drink order and we all ordered sodas, as well as one coffee and two lattes. Our sodas/waters took a bit to come out-- which I've noticed in New Orleans is normal for some reason? She said our coffees would be out in a few minutes. As we sat there we noticed the bar area where they make coffees and drinks was chaos. Everyone's yelling at each other and some guy from the bar area brought us a coffee, then snatched it back and had to check if it was ours, then brought it back again. But it was just the coffee drink. We assumed our lattes were coming following that. We were wrong. We never got our lattes. Our food took quite a bit to come out as well. I ordered the chicken and french toast bites, but when I tasted them they were more like croutons. Weirdly crunchy and burnt. The chicken wasn't great either. The side of bacon I ordered was good though. Our waitresses service was... an experience to say the least. At one point she started yelling and ran outside because she was getting a ticket for not paying the meter. I only know this because when she came back she was awkwardly oversharing about how if they wanted her to pay for the meter then they need to fix their meters. When she brought our checks, she apologized about us not receiving our lattes and took them off of our tickets, which seemed genuine. But when she brought the checks out there was a random side of breakfast potatoes on my check. I told her about it and she said, "Well SOMEONE here got breakfast potatoes!" and we all reassured her that no one ordered breakfast potatoes. She sighed and stormed off to take off the potatoes. Then she brought a tablet to us to pay as she stood over us oversharing about her parking issues. It was just weird is...
