The pick-up location may vary depending on the time (we stayed at Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome, which was about an hour’s drive). 2️⃣ We booked through Cajun Encounters Tour, no need for 🪜, payment option is visa. The website includes almost all the popular scenic routes in New Orleans. If you sign up for two tours and send an email to the website, they’ll even refund $8 of the ticket price, so don’t forget! 3️⃣ There are two to three types of Swamp Tours. We chose the most common one, which is a small boat tour (Day Swamp Tour with pickup: $64.99 including tax). The boat has seats on both sides, and the captain will explain the animals and plants along the banks throughout the journey. In some areas, they tie chicken to attract alligators. You can see American alligators 🐊, raccoons 🦝, great blue herons, and white herons 🐦. If you’re lucky, you might also see wild boars 🐗 and owls 🦉, but we called for a long time and nothing showed up… The captain also showed us the eggs of apple snails. The Swamp Tour lasts a total of 5 hours. Overall, the experience is quite good. The boat ride is about 1 hour long. The latter half feels like a tropical rainforest when we go deeper into the jungle.
