The smoothies are delicious! I had the peach mango one.

The Swai fish nuggets were good! I added Cajun seasoning. I wish they were fried a little harder because I prefer my fish crispy. I’m not sure if it softened from the trapped steam from being placed in the styrofoam container or what. The meat inside was flaky and moist.

I didn’t care for the fries. They were too hard and not that hot. They didn’t taste fresh or made too order. The texture was like they were cooked in advance and then sat under a warmer light.

The famous Cajun fried rice is nothing special. They give you a whole lot of rice and very little shrimp or crawfish. It was dry. You definitely need soy or some other type of sauce. The hush puppies were bland and I’ve definitely had better other places.

The mild swamp sauce was good! First it taste like garlic butter but then the heat hits you. It was more medium than mild to me. The spice/heat lingers in your mouth and throat after you eat the food. It made my nose run.

The food is very affordable and portion size is good.

We (party of 2) dined here for the first time today around 2 pm. It took 15 minutes for the food to be prepared and our order number to be called out.

The place was busy when we first arrived with people dining in and picking up to go orders.

The staff could do a better job keeping tables cleaned. All of the tables were dirty when we arrived. I wiped ours off with a paper towel but it still had sauce residue so wasn’t technically clean when we ate.

Customer service was okay but nothing memorable. A few hours after eating my stomach began to feel uneasy… not sure if it was the seasonings, grease, sauce or...

Food is not good. People in Houston can't possible have good taste in food for this to have such a rating.

Now I will give the good because good exist. The Cajun fries are delicious, they are the only thing I fully ate and all the fried food seems to be cooked with clean grease. So that is a good thing.

Beyond that, the corn or eggs tasted like they were boiled and just that. Absolutely no butter or seasoning on either but on the bright side. They were huge so you get a nice serving size but they were tasteless. The potatoes, for some reason they actually tasted good compared to others. I liked them but I love potatoes either way so it could be that and once again. Nice size. So of those three one was good to me but others were terrible.

The fried srimp has barely any meat. It was terribly and they were hard, not juicy, and just pathetic. It was like I eating mainly breading. Only ate 3 of 9.

The fried catfish will depend on how you like your catfish. It wasn't good to me but this is due to my acquired taste catfish. It has to be cooked a specific way. The catfish seemed fresh, large, and cook well. So I though I don't like the catfish. You might.

The hush puppies are TERRIBLE. It taste like everything else. Flavorless. They lake flavor here. I don't get it but the fried food has seasoning. Not a large amount but good enough but everything else doesn't get seasoned. I cannot recommend this place but it's highly rated so if you're reading this you probably have subpar taste buds like the rest of this city and Wil enjoy.

As for customer I did a pick up order. They don't seem very nice or welcoming but I wouldn't say they have bad customer service...

Let me say, I love Swamp City. It’s my GO-TO for boiled seafood. I don’t go anywhere else. But unfortunately I have to speak up. My food was not made with the options chosen. Selected for “not spicy” and the food is EXTRA spicy, it’s not even edible. I order from here all the time and never had issues but this is the second time now that they make my food extremely spicy to where you can barely eat it , let alone enjoy it. Last time this happened I ordered “mild” and it was way too spicy so this time I opted for “not spicy” at all which I actually order spicy every time but due to the previous time I figured I’ll just add my own spice level to my preference. Well didn’t happen that way and it’s NEVER came out this way before. I’m not sure who’s back in that kitchen this last month or so, but something is off. I didn’t complain the first time, I just ended up eating a portion of the food to the best of my ability and throwing away the rest but now this is pushing it considering it seems the cook didn’t even TRY. Why ask for spice level options if you’re not going to cook it the way it was asked for? My order number is Order #491925 and I placed my order for pick up today at 2:18pm with a total of $21.85.
