Spontaneous Detour to Bratislava from Vienna Initially planning to head straight to the much-anticipated Budapest from Vienna, I made a sudden change to visit Bratislava, just a one-hour train ride away. Travel is all about being spontaneous and free-spirited! Bratislava, a charming and youthful European capital often overlooked by most tourists, not only exudes the vibrancy of a modern city but also boasts a rich historical heritage. Influenced by various ethnicities such as German, Czech, Hungarian, and Slovak, it offers a unique blend of cultures. Exploring the remnants of the Kingdom of Hungary is an experience not to be missed. Transportation 🚞: - Vienna Central Station to Bratislava-Petrzalka (18€) - Bus from Bratislava-Petrzalka to Old Town 🚌 - Walking around the city center is sufficient. Sightseeing 🏰 + Shopping + Dining 🍴: - Old Town: A treasure trove of interesting neighborhood shops. - Church of the Annunciation: The oldest Catholic church in Slovakia. ⛪ - Vintage shop: Františkánske námestie 7, 811 01 Bratislava - Dining: Koliba Kamzík Zelená. The prices in Slovakia are quite affordable. I chose a slightly more expensive place, and even the white wine is very cheap, averaging 3€ per glass, compared to 6€+ in the Netherlands.🇳🇱 - Čumil (the manhole man) → Blue Church - Bratislava Castle: (A historical museum ticket allows you to climb to the top and look out over the city through glass windows. 😂 If you have a fear of heights, be prepared. There are also exhibits on national history, castle changes, and collections of paintings and porcelain. Student ticket 6€. If you have time, you can also stroll through the Baroque-style gardens.) - I got heat rash from the intense sun and couldn't run around anymore. It was scorching hot! - Ended the trip at 4:30 PM and headed to Budapest. #Slovakia #Vienna #Budapest #OffTheBeatenPathEurope #EuropeanTravel #VintageShopping #Foodie #WhiteWine #FashionTipsForShorties
