Who Still Doesn’t Know About the New Japanese Hand Roll Spot ? πŸ£πŸŒ™

Came home late and was scrolling through DINE LA restaurants β€” surprisingly found a new hand roll place right here in Gardena! Online it said they close at 10 PM, and we arrived around 9:30 PM. Seeing no customers inside, I thought they were about to close, but the server warmly welcomed us in! We sat down and ordered the DINE LA Set for two. First Course: Appetizer πŸ₯™ Sea urchin and fish roe served over a base of mountain yam puree and vinegar. Tried the uni first β€” super fresh! Then mixed it all together β€” the creamy, sticky texture was so satisfying. Loved it! Second Course: Daily Side Dish πŸ₯— Sweet and crispy pickled radish β€” refreshing and light. Third Course: 5 Hand Rolls 🍣 β€’ Salmon Hand Roll: Topped with chili-garlic sauce and onions β€” added great depth to the salmon. The spicy sauce was so flavorful, I could imagine it perfect with rice or noodles! β€’ Tuna Hand Roll: Toro paired with Japanese pickled radish. The rich, buttery toro and the crisp radish balanced perfectly β€” my favorite of the five! β€’ Grilled Snow Crab Leg Hand Roll: Snow crab with spicy mayo, lightly torched. The smoky grilled flavor was a surprise hit! β€’ Tamago and Eel Hand Roll: Unagi over a thick slice of sweet tamago. Both were pretty sweet β€” decent but the least exciting of the set. β€’ Scallop and Roe Hand Roll: Fresh, sweet scallops with bursting roe β€” you could really taste the quality! Fourth Course: Chashu Noodles 🍜 Tossed noodles with the same spicy sauce from the salmon hand roll, bamboo shoots, and cucumber. Light, refreshing, and not greasy at all. Fifth Course: Kinako Warabimochi + Vanilla Ice Cream 🍦 Vanilla ice cream with warabimochi dusted in soybean flour and drizzled with brown sugar syrup. A simple, pleasant dessert β€” the mochi was soft with a slight chew. Overall, a great experience! We were worried about holding them up since it was late, but the server kindly told us to take our time. Even near closing, the service was attentive, and the ingredients stayed fresh. They also offer lunch set specials β€” definitely worth trying! So glad we don’t have to go all the way to DTLA for good hand rolls now. This will be my go-to spot when I’m craving sushi! πŸ“ Oh Banzai 18212 S Western Ave, Gardena, CA 90248 πŸ’° $65 per person Have you been here yet? What’s your favorite hand roll spot in LA?
