Why Have I Always Wanted to Go to New Orleans?
Because the food is amazing! 🍽️✨ And the French Quarter’s bar scene is wild — if you’re not into the craziness, head to a jazz bar 🎷. We were there during Mardi Gras — yellow, green, and purple decorations everywhere 🎉💜💚💛, with parades lighting up the nights! We spent 4 days and 3 nights there. Skipped a few typical tourist spots and still had plenty of time — honestly, 3 days and 2 nights would’ve been enough. There are tons of guides out there, so I’ll just share some must-dos and what to avoid. ▫️ Stay Safety first! 🛡️ Stay near the French Quarter, and avoid walking alone at night. ▫️ Transport Book your rental car in advance 🚗. Take the shuttle from the airport to the rental office. Hotels usually charge for parking — overnight in the city runs about $50. But honestly, you don’t really need a car — most places are walkable. Rideshares cost around $10, and from the airport to downtown it’s about $45. ▫️ Eat Felix ⭐️⭐️ Overhyped — our first meal here was just okay. Other places we tried later were way better. Luke ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend! Must-order: fresh oysters and fried oysters 🦪. Oysters are cheaper before 6 PM! Great ambiance and service too. Rebirth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend! The cornbread appetizer is slightly sweet with a crunchy crust 🌽. Their Gumbo was the best we had in NOLA! Shrimp & eggplant — crispy outside, tender inside 🍤🍆. Every dish was delicious. Willa Jean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend! Brunch highlights: Creole tomato soup and BBQ shrimp toast 🍅🍤. Unique flavors we haven’t found elsewhere — don’t hold back on seafood here! Bearcat ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Go if you have time Another great brunch spot — Cajun crawfish gravy biscuit soaked in sauce is a flavor bomb! Perfect for Asian taste buds — I love sweet and savory combos 😋. ▫️ Explore Besides the famous French Quarter, wander by day for colorful buildings and cute shops 🏘️🎨. After 6 PM, it transforms — lights, music, dancing, motorcycles, street performers, and non-stop party vibes 🎶🌃. We headed back to the hotel around 9 PM (maybe we’re getting old 😅), but the energy was unforgettable! Preservation Hall for jazz — more intimate and soulful than the open bars on the street 🎺❤️. #NewOrleans #USA #USTravel 🎭🦞✈️
