Wintzell's Oyster House in Mobile, USA 🦪 A Surprise Old Oyster Spot
Driving from Florida to Dallas, I made a special detour to Mobile, Alabama—all just to check out Wintzell's Oyster House, a well-known old oyster spot that had long been on my "food list"! As a long-standing oyster restaurant, it totally lived up to expectations, and even the tiredness from gripping the steering wheel for hours was cured by the aroma and vibe here~😌😌😌 The moment I walked in, I was wrapped in a retro atmosphere! The walls are covered with all kinds of old photos, and the most eye-catching one is a whole "beauty pageant contestant photo wall" 📸—from yellowed black-and-white photos decades ago to bright color photos in recent years, each carries a strong sense of the times. Staring at the photos while waiting for the meal, I could even imagine the lively scenes back then—it was so interesting! The tables and chairs are warm wooden ones, and the soft yellow lighting spills over the tablecloths, creating a cozy vibe. The air is filled with the "rustle" of diners peeling oysters and their laughter, full of warmth, without the distance of an "Internet-famous store". Instead, it feels like an old spot where neighbors often come to chat, and I instantly relaxed as soon as I sat down 😌!😌😌 Since it’s an old oyster restaurant, we definitely had to try all kinds of oyster dishes! The oyster options on the menu were so many that I was spoilt for choice 👀: grilled oysters, fried oysters, oyster stew, oyster salad, and even oyster pasta... We first went for the classic grilled oysters, and as soon as they were served, the aroma of garlic and cheese made my mouth water 🧀! The oyster meat was tender—just a gentle pick with a fork and it came off the shell. Wrapped in melted, stringy cheese and chopped garlic, one bite let the salty aroma of cheese, the spiciness of garlic, and the natural sweetness of the oysters burst in my mouth. I even didn’t want to waste the slightly crispy cheese crumbs on the edge of the shell—it was so delicious that I couldn’t help but lick the shell clean~😌😌😌 If I pass this route again next time, I will definitely come back to this old spot for grilled oysters! After all, it’s really rare to encounter a store with great atmosphere and taste while rushing on the road—such a little luck is too precious~😌😌😌 #USAFood #MobileFoodie #OysterDishes #RoadTripEats #AlabamaEats
