Yakun — LA's New Yakitori Omakase Experience 🍢

Recently tried Yakun, a new yakitori-focused omakase spot in LA, and overall, it was a great experience! The service was warm and welcoming—the host was friendly and even spoke a bit of Mandarin. Their mocktail selection is impressive! We tried three recommended ones—all well-balanced, not too sweet, and high-quality 👍 We also had to try the cherry blossom mocktail (reportedly a Daniel Wu favorite 😉). The menu is solid though fairly traditional, without many surprises—but the yakitori is top-tier! Juicy, tender, packed with charcoal aroma, and portions are generous (honestly couldn't finish it all). The interior is elegant and tastefully designed—comfortable cushioned seating with good privacy. Even the tableware and restroom details show thoughtfulness. The whole meal took just under 2 hours (two seatings per night; ours started at 8 PM, ended before 10). One minor note: only the yakitori is prepared in front of you; other courses come from the kitchen, so there's less visual theater. Reservations are still manageable—book 1–2 days ahead. Price: around $700 for two (excluding drinks). They sent us home with a sweet parting gift: two Japanese-style wind chimes 🎐 📍 Yakun 2000 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025 #DanielWu #OmakaseLA #SushiLovers #LAJapanese#JapaneseCuisine #YakitoriOmakase #FineDiningLA
